Hi,
I have seen contradictory sources about the material that is used for hinged containers. These containers are normally used in take away restaurants for carrying, for example, hamburgers. I have the doubt if these containers are made mainly from expanded polystyrene (EPS) or extruded polystyrene (XPS).

Hinged lids are mostly XPS foam. A package consisting of a container and separate press-on lid is more likely EPS.

Thermoformed XPS. You can also closely inspect the surface, if it looks like small beads fused together, it is EPS

Thank you Bill for your quick answer. Now is totally clear to me. I think, at least in Europe, XPS is more common for takeaway clamshells.
