Hi , What is difference between relative configuration and absolute configuration ?

+/- (and thus, d/l) refers to optical activity

Absolute configuration refers to R/S. Follows Cahn-Ingold-Prelog(CIP) rules

Relative configuration refers to D/L, or more elaborately, assigning configuration in reference to a standard molecule (glyceraldehyde, most commonly)
