The basic and immediate confirmation for formation of a product is by TLC. You can see the difference in Rf values for reactants and product. 

Apart from that, FT IR confirms the formation of product which can be interpreted by the wave number values of respective functional group. Mass spectrometer gives you the molecular weight of product. Compare it with the theoretical mol.wt..
