Because I'm only a highschool student what I did to gain a lot of knowledge regarding the brain was to read these seemingly simple yet complex books. Try to read Brain Facts (it is really short but amazing). Also as mentioned previously read some of the neuroscience textbook editions published by Dale Purves. And finally for studying neuroanatomy, I highly recommend this website: http://www.thehumanbrain.info/head_brain/

I think if you were to read just even Brain Facts and 1 Dale Purves Textbook, you should gain a lot of insight in neuroscience! And you can also find these textbooks for free online.
