Several villages/communities in Nigeria do not have access to water. In some communities with water, the water is contaminated. However, people in these communities have been using this water for ages. Spread of diseases such as dysentery, diarrhea, and many other water borne infectious diseases are prevalent.
Is this a project the consortium may be interested to look into?
In India too in the area with water scarcity such practices have been documented. it requires further exploration & documentation for a public health action.
I am certain these responses do not address my question. Bishan and Ishag, what is the situation in your respective communities? I know in several of the communities in Nigeria, water is a scarce commodity. In communities that have water, the water is polluted. Some families have began to dig wells to obtain water, but because of the poor sanitary conditions, the wells are often contaminated. Again, how does the consortium determine which area to study or community to work with. Is this by recommendation or arbitrarily choosing a commune?

There exists the consortium to address specific social issues like to conserve water, promote organic farming, work for Women Empowerment, working on sanitation, save the Girl Child and working on child labour & child abuse.
Each of these works to achieve/promote certain yardsticks/achievements. At time they also have Governmental support rather many of them work to support Governmental efforts

The answer to your original question is as follows. I identified the WATESPOUTT partners on the basis of previous succesful smaller collaborations that I had with those researchers. I have adhered to this criterion in all of my large funded projects where I have had a previous smaller research collaboration in which I was able to see that the other partners were dedicated researchers who met their deadlines on time and within budget. UATERSPOUTT is a formal research grant agreement in which the EU draws up a formal research contract with each partner under my coordination. It is not possible to add supplementary/additional partners even though I am sure that there are many other locations across Africa where the outputs of WATERSPOUTT could be used.

It does seem you have been provided with an answer. In building collaborative Consortium partners for our HIV patients leaving incarceration we had a vetting process. We identified community leaders / organizations that we're amenable to working with our project, located in areas with the highest rates of sociology-economonic status as measured by income and HIV prevalenc, and offered free HIV care and treatment. Then we met and assessed the strengths and limitations of the organization and the services offered. Prpviders in these clinics needed to offer standard of care, including medical case management, have a clean and welcoming environ and and have something to offer the Consortium such as housing assistance, food pantry, clothes box. Those offered to join signed a Memorandum of Understanding/ Linkage Agreement. Consortia in NYC and Puerto Rico continue today and meet regularly, help one another seek funding, solve challenges by working together, and have an annual meeting where additional organizatoons, including finders, government agencies, law enforcement, and researchers come together to help the Consortium. This is also a time when the Consortium assesses the need for additional partner organizations to join as members. Amother good example is the Bronx Health & Housing Consortium www.bxconsortium.org

Only the Corrupt Governments And their Corrupt Government Officials Steals all the money so only few Dollars reaches to Children in need. I am sure your Country is facing the same Problems which is very common in Third world countries.
