Article Tourist Perception as Key Indicator of Destination Competitiveness
Dear Abinash, in research to boost the development of The Riverland Region in South Australia, we viewed tourism as an important element within a system of other elements (health and aged care, food and beverages, environment and education etc). For this we used 'system theory' (Checkland, 2001) , where all the elements of a system are interconnected for a common purpose/vision (healthy products, healthy living, healthy river and environment). Synergies could then be uncovered e.g. the clean and healthy food, beverages, river and environment could be promoted to encourage tourists who wished to enjoy such clean healthy products and attractions e.g. via health resorts. It can be beneficial to consider tourism as one (important) element as part of integrated approach to rural development.
