1. First you need the data of molar masses of all of the components.

2. Divide each component mass by their molar mass to get moles of each component.

3. Than divide the number of moles of each component by the total number of moles and multiply by 100 to get the mole% for each component.

For Example:

Mass % Na in NaCl:

Molar mass Na = 22.990 g/mol

Molar mass NaCl = 58.443 g/mol

Mass % Na = 22.990 g/mol / 58.443 g/mol * 100% = 39.3%

Now you can calculate mass % Cl in NaCl . You should get 60.7%

It is true that the answer of Rayappa Shrinivas Mahale is a method of converting Na wt% into mol% in NaCl. But the wt% -> mol% conversion is usually very difficult for EDX (or EDS). The concentrations of EDX analysis results are usually given by many elements' wt%. However some light elements (H, Li, Be, B,and sometimes C, N, ...) are not measurable by some EDS in air. The total wt% is 100% without including these undetectable elements. The first thing you must check is whether the wt% is correct or not the true results due to some assumptions in such a way that the analyte is made of only oxide, ...? Then you must follow the method of Rayappa Shrinivas Mahale
