AT8 has a dual epitope at pS202 and pT205 on tau. To my knowledge there is no rabbit polyclonal antibody that reproduce exactly the AT8 epitope. The closest is an anti-pT205, which will reflect more the AT8 signal than an anti-pS202. So when we want to do IHC with a polyclonal to get an AT8-like signal, we use a anti-pT205. pT205 is an excellent option. If you wish to broaden you can also try pS199, pT212 and pS214. We have obtained comparable results with antibodies against these epitopes from Invitrogen.
