I would consult the book STANDARD METHODS FOR ANALYSIS OF WATER AND WASTEWATER. Depending on what you want to analyze, there may be specific approaches on how to collect, preserve or prepare for analysis. I have seen equipment that can be opened at some depth to collect a submerged sample and keep air out, but I have only sampled water from third stage of sewage lagoon system using rubber gloves, dipping the container into water. You may need other equipment if you are not used to fumes, etc. If you can consult with someone who has done the type sampling you need for pointers. An ISCO type water sampler that uses a vacuum pump would probably work if you wanted regular samples from one location and the sample is primarily liquid, but in this, there may be some cross contamination. You might be able to rig up your own with a small vacuum pump, and rinse between samples. I would assume a potential for toxic or hazardous material and be extra safe.

You might try an old fashioned Swingle Bottle Train that fills three bottles in succession.The first bottle in the train is filled and rinsed three times . Costs essentially nothing to make except bottles, some weight,two hole stoppers, and some glass tubing.
