At present, the research direction of vegetation on slope stability has changed from mechanical mechanism to what direction? We know that the effect of vegetation roots to reinforcement makes the slope anti-slide stability enhanced, but under the condition of heavy rainfall, the roots make the potential flow increased. How can we further study this mechanism?
The uptake of water by plant roots increases the suction in the soil and therefore the shear strength of the soil. This has a positive effect on slope stability. The positive effect of suction on the stability of slopes depends on the hydro-mechanical parameters of the soil and it is valid up to a certain depth.

I dealt with some landslides during my career with the US Forest Service. A couple of my paper included a few remarks about them - paper on flood frequency and risk, and paper on watershed restoration after calamity. As suggested by Dr. Achour, root systems from both transpiration and shear strength help keep unstable soils and landforms from failing. Dr. Dennis Harr seems to be one of the researchers that comes to mind conducting some slope stability research. There were others. There is a period of time after cleardutting when unstable soils and root decomposition are especially sensitive before the new forest takes hold. Roads crossing unstable soils, another problem from removing material from the toe of the slope, altering the movement of slope water so that the cut slope increases water and becomes more unstable, and roads commonly funnel water from outside areas that sometimes is not removed frequently enough, or picks unstable conditions to remove road surface water or unstabilize fill slopes with excess water. There was one or more studies that evaluated the rooting density and strength by species that was helpful. Most geologists, soil scientists and geomorphologists can be helpful in identifying unstable landforms, and availability of quality DEMs from LiDAR would also be helpful, but we were able to identify unstable or questionable terrain with aerial photography pairs in stereo and using field surveys to evaluate indicators such along proposed roads.
I have not read this, but the USFS has dealt with landslides for many decades, so you might find it useful.
