Test conditions: X-rays with 9 MeV energy in a 10x10 cm area were irradiated from a distance of 100 cm to a 1 ml sample with an area of 4.5 cm^2, but there was no change in the cells by WST analysis. What do I need to review and change again? Any advice you guys have provided is valuable to me.

Two possible issues:
1. 9 MeV would suggest electrons not x-rays so just confirming it is 9MV x-rays? This changes the surface dose which is essentially what 1mm would represent.
2. Assuming it is x-rays ..... Did you put bolus over the cells? As a general principle at 1mm you will get less than 25% of the planned dose unless you have 1.5cm of tissue equivalent material on top of the cells
