Dimensions usually represent a specific location perhaps at a certain time and the interpolated value represents the data value in this specific location. Actually interpolation is looking for a spatially related best fit function to the data values, thus creating a kind of continuous surface or hyper surface, so that given the n-dimensional location the data value is calculated. In three dimensions are calculated most meteorological parameters which can be in four dimensions if consided at a different time.

Also, n-dimensional space may be considered the spectral space with n-spectral bands.
