While I agree that there some potential challenges around The Delta Model's complexity, I do not see that being very much different from implementing Porter's or Resource-based View of the Firm. After all, as a strategist, you are expected to have a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, market dynamics, customer needs, and your firm's internal capabilities, resources, and assets. Independent of the framework you choose.

I am thinking that it may be more challenging to implement because of the framework's lack of awareness (education) and adoption in the market. For example in my MBA strategy course - The Delta Model was never mentioned as an alternative framework. I agree, that its lack of awareness - is no doubt its greatest reason for being under utilized.
