I would like to include pictures of scientists into my lectures for beginners in microbiology. For some, hardly any pictures or actually no pictures seem to exist. Has somebody seen a photograph of Julius Richard Petri somewhere? Maybe you can find something for me!
I thank both of you very much. There are several photographoies in the net, somehow linked to Petri, and some even ascribe that name to a photo, but it turned out never to be true. Isn't this curious? - There must be a photo, a drawing or similar somewhere in one or the other book. We will wait and see! :-)
What about that Picture from Reza's first contribution? It is given in a short biography in Spanish. Could be him. Can somebody perhaps confirm?
I'd be interested in that, too. Wrist watch and glasses look a bit (too?) modern to me.
A nice photograph of Angelina and Walther Hesse can be found on the www. As you probably know, Angelina Hesse invented the use of agar for solid media. I'll keep following this Discussion in the hope that a verified Petri picture pops up.

I found one, finally, not a good one, but better than nothing. I attached a scan of a picture that was printed in Laborjournal issue 1-2/2014 on page 39. Petri is the fourth person from the left in the first row. The photograph was made during a bacteriological lab course around 1888. The original is cited to be in the archives of Humboldt-University in Berlin, alternatively in the museum of Robert-Koch Institute Berlin (not quite clear in the text; maybe identical sources, however).
