I worked with the characterization of the production chain of an Amazonian catfish, and I would recommend to you the methodology of agrosystems (AGS) to give you a first broader view of the fishing and fleet used. Then, to use the activity-based costing (ABC) method to analyze costs and finally, calculate break-even points and profit margins, to assess the viability of the fleet used. Determining population parameters and characterizing the fleet are important aspects of any fisheries and aquaculture bioeconomics study. Here are a few suggestions for methodology and approaches that you may find helpful:

Capture data: One way to estimate population parameters is to collect data on the number of individuals of each species captured in each fishing trip. This can be done through logbook data, observer programs, or other methods. You can then use this data to estimate population size, growth rate, and other parameters using statistical models such as the Ricker model or the Chao model.

CPUE (catch per unit effort): CPUE is a measure of the efficiency of a fishing operation, calculated by dividing the total catch by the total effort (e.g., number of fishing trips, hours fished). CPUE can be used to compare the productivity of different fishing grounds or gear types, and can also be used to estimate population size and trends over time.

Size frequencies: Examining the size frequency distribution of the catch can provide valuable information about the age structure of the population, growth rate, and other parameters. You can use size frequency data to estimate the proportion of individuals in different age classes, and to model population dynamics using methods such as length-based models.

Economic characterization of the fleet: To characterize the economic performance of the fleet, you can collect data on a variety of factors such as vessel size, gear type, fuel consumption, operating costs, and revenues. You can then use this data to calculate economic indicators such as cost-effectiveness, return on investment, and profitability.
