I am trying to electrospin polymer along with higher concentration of salt (more than 2% of salt). What might be the suitable polymer and suitable set up parameters?
The concentration of salt that they have used is low, which is just to increase conductivity (my guess) and hence spinability. Another reason might be to increase the porosity of the nanofibers. I am more focused on adding higher concentration of salts to the polymer solution and electrospinning it which may benefit my purpose.
The type of polymer i am looking can be anything that is hydrophillic, mechanically and chemically stable.
Dear Suman Nepal, these additional documents shed light on the importance and influence of salt type and concentration on electrospinning process. My Regards
I have a personal experience with LiCl addition to polymer solution few years before, I guess 5% was the maximum that I used. With increase in salt concentration, you need to work at low voltage due to very high conductivity. On the other hand, very low voltage might not be enough for chosen solvent. So you have to try different conc. of polymer and salt, applied voltage and solvent type as well.
