Tell who worked with SPH method in sediment transport I could not say, but I can maybe give more valuable information, that is to say those who tried and failed!
I work physical simulation of sediment transport in density currents, ie not working with numerical modeling (despite knowing some about theory). Our laboratory was contacted by a group of numerical simulation interested in using SPH to simulate density currents. The numerical simulation team comprised of experienced personnel in CFD and SPH a center of excellence in the matter in Brazil, with powerful hardware and several international publications on the subject.
After many contacts and visits, we were informed of the cancellation of the same case to use SPH in sediment due to technical problems, which did not detail the problems and it was not in our interest to find out why. I note that the question of funding as there were no problems, then I think that is the incompatibility of the method for attaching particles with each particle representing representing fluid and other sediments.
I'm not saying that you have unsuccessful in your work, what I'm saying is that it seems so simple.
I have simulate sediment and flow interaction using Moving Particle Semi Implicit method which is a particle method same as SPH. As you may know, MPS and SPH are the most similar methods among other Lagrangian methods. Please, feel free to ask your question on the issue.
