I am looking for a measure dealing with lock-in or the last stage of the path dependency as defined by Schreyögg. Has anyone come across such a measure, or seen a good proxy?
I am trying to measure something like an exploitation-orientation as compared to exploration-measure but not in the traditional sense. I am trying to typologize explorer, exploiters and ambidexters.

To my knowledge there are various factors, such as the sequence of events, domino- / or knock-on effects, power struggles etc. that can potentially contribute to path-dependent, strategic lock-ins (e.g. VHS over the Beta video format).

This topic is connected with the problem of management of change. One approach can be the study of dynamic capabilities in response to the momentum that can be determined by path dependance process. this is a typical resource-based view approach.
