I was wondering if it would be possible to tailor a catalyst that is doubly selective for say methanol and ethanol depending on the potential applied? Has this been reported? Also just theoretically what would be a mechanism that would allow this?
In generated terms, yes, you could use a hybrid catalyst such as platinum and cobalt impregnated on a substrate surface like alumina (Al2O3) to be selective to more than one chemical species.
Thank you Professor Yehia, that definitely gives me a few ideas on where to go after my current CO2 conversion project as well as a simple way to improve on some current designs.
