The standards of small power grid feeding inverters as EN 50438, do not allow islanding mode. You are not allowed to connect an inverter in islanding mode to a public grid, as you may kill electrical personal possibly working there. Therefore you need certified safety transfer switch for your loads. It will switch the loads to public grid or to your energy island. Such a transfer switch costs more than the PV inverter, therefore this is not used. I found a combined grid and islanding inverter from web: https://www.pika-energy.com/islanding-inverter/ . You may use such dual system inverter or a separate inverter e.g. 12 VDC / 230 V AC (or an industrial frequency converter with sine filter and transformer) to start up your grid inverter to operate in island mode. But you are not allowed to switch it to public grid in islanding mode. BR Jüri
