Geo grid and Geo net is generally used for Soil reinforcement with designed granular material (i.e. cohesion less material) , But in some circumstances we need to use local material also. So perfectly cohesion less material may not be available. Now , most of the artificial (Polymers) and natural fibers are hydrophobic in nature and hence clay (with some saturation) may not be able to adhere with Geo material and the cohesion component will not contribute towards increase in shear strength. So , my question is weather is it advantageous to have Geotextile surface a hydrophilic or hydrophobic in nature?
