Some voices critique the usual English King James translation:

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

The translation chi-beshua (usually subdue, bring under control) seems to be according to some voices contested (some say save, redeem is the meaning). Is the "save" translation credible?

How has the interpretation of Genesis 1:28 changed in the last 2000 years, e.g. Scholastic, Renaissance, etc.?

As it is a religious question, I do not want to touch any feelings and want to express that I highly respect religions. Agnostic approach, which may be wrong.
