Could you please provide me with the correct procedure for conducting a full simulation of a transmitarray or reflectarray in CST? I recently attempted to simulate a transmitarray together with a horn antenna. However, after the simulation, I did not observe any changes in the results. The gain from simulating the horn alone is the same as the one obtained from simulating the horn antenna with the transmitarray, which doesn't seem normal at all. Do you have any suggestions for resolving this issue? Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Does your transmit array do any focusing? Or does it have the same transmit phase and amplitude change for each part of the array? If it doesn't do any focusing than you would expect not much change in the pattern from the horn, the wave pattern past the array has the same centre of curvature and taper as before the array.
Thank you for your response Malcolm White . Indeed, my transmit-array incorporates a beamforming function, which means it is capable of controlling the direction in which the wave is transmitted. This allows for optimizing focus and adjusting the distribution of energy in a specific direction.
In which template project should for simulation? In the Antennas template or in the periodic structures template?
You can ask for a 2D plot of the electric or magnetic field on a plane to see whether the phase actually changes across your array as you have designed. If you set an electric field monitor at the operating frequency, then you can look at a 2D plot on a plane you chose, and display the phase of the field.
I have never used the periodic structures function. The feed is not periodic, so I would not expect that you could use a periodic solver.
