From my research, I found out that as an HOD, in other to improve teaching quality in your department you have to
1. Invest in continuous professional development of your staff in different areas of mathematics that you may perceive to be more challenging to your student.
2. You as the HOD must be actively involved in the student performance in mathematics, their areas of weaknesses in mathematics, interest and love for the subject and proffer solutions with the teachers you are supervising in other to tackle this challenges.
3. Ensure that the mathematics teachers are up to date with their teaching delivery and knowledge in the subject.
4. Carry out regular meetings with the mathematics teachers on new ways to improve the student learning and love for mathematics.
