Elsevier journals have a new impact metric called “CiteScore”. As an author, what addition does this metric offer to you compared with the Impact Factor of TR?
CiteScore is based on citation counts in a given year (e.g. 2015) to documents published in three previous calendar years (e.g. 2012-2014) divided by the number of documents in these three previous years.
Impact factor measures the average number of citations received in a particular year by papers published in a journal in the two preceding years.

In my opinion, citescore is a moderate time span (3 years) citation measure that is between the well known 2 years impact factor and the 5 years impact factor by ISI. In a fast growing field like Chemistry, the differences between the two scores from journal to another would be minimal. However, the citescore might be a better judgement tool for the slow fields
I prefer CiteScore because it shows a timely impact of the top papers published by the journal. However, both methods are based on an average whereas number of citations in journal seems to follow Pareto Rule, 10:90, 10% of the articles contribute 90% of the citations.
