Dear vision scientists out there!

I am doing my PhD on dyslexia and would like to add some visual measures to other standard tasks for the children I’m testing. I am quite new to the field of vision therefore I would like to ask for some help.

I have the Psykinematix software and a MacBook and would like to measure magnocellular functions (which are sometimes compromised in dyslexics) using frequency doubling illusion. I am seeking any pieces of advice on how to do that (how to create stimuli, what to manipulate: frequency or contrast?) and whether stimuli using this software would be good enough (I see that most studies use sophisticated equipment)? Also, if anyone has a better idea for task/stimuli than frequency doubling that would tap into magno processing I would be delighted to hear from you! Any thoughts or ideas regarding the technical side as well as the theoretical will be very much appreciated!
