I am conducting a study about how schools implement data-driven projects in K-12. In April they are going to present the results of their first project and we are focusing on what schools can learn from a data-driven project, e.g. what insights can be attained and what insights are not attained through this approach?
I'm looking for a framework or some theoretical lens to categorize the projects according to the result of their project. Does anyone know a framework or theoretical lens which can be used for this kind of study?
@Robert, this looks like a timely study. In the first phase i would suggest to compare the dataddriven results against the previous pedagogy or a benchmark. This will tell you if in fact the student learning or other stakeholder outcomes are at least as good as before, or hopefully better. See articles below for examples or search RG.
In phase 2, assuming phase 1 proved data driven approached in K12 produced better learning outcomes, then you could analyze the dd factors in more detail. To determine on a more granular level what worked, why and what needs to be improved.
The research design could be either positivistic with quantitative techniques or interpretative maybe constructivistic using qualitative methods.

"framework or theoretical lens" a few year ago we researched Barriers Preventing Sexual Education in Secondary State Schools"... we needed a theoretical lens, and we used rather than a Psychoanalytic Theory, an holistic concept of sexuality; this enable us to articulate about 100 Focus Group managers to identify the information, sort it out, and register. The fact that this group managers had the competency to handle the information was crucial for thr drvelopment of this research project.
Now I am working in a research peoject where we want to describe the research peojects barriers among university students, and we are conceptualizing Research Competency, since we need to describe the competency, as three elements: knowledge, ability and atittude; this way we will describe and identify the gaps, which would be the barriers.
I wanted to mention these 2 experiences, to highlight the way we approached to the data and the way we articulated a paragigm to be able to perceive it, in case your study is Descriptive the competency approach might be a good element to consider.

@kenneth Thanks for your reply, this study focuses on school improvement and is not limited to learning outcome even though there is anticipation that the project will yield better learning.
