theoritically speaking you can use any polar solvent, but you can use the solubility parameter to eliminate those which are not so close to the one of the polymer. Regards

If you havent find something yet, I'd suggest to try any polar solvent (MeOH, iPr-OH) witch acid to disrupt the acid-silanol interaction by keeping the acid in its less polar, protonated form.
