Some publications used 1 M HCl in 10 min. washing. some are saying just ethanol and acetone can only be used for the cleaning and They comment HCl will oxidise the Nickel and our CV graphs will have that oxidising peak as well . As I know Nickel foam also contained oxide layer externally so I cordially invite for the scientists who surfing in research gate can answer this question
Mr; Yasan . I have been used the Ni foam for Lithium Air battery and reuse them after I clean. So I have been using Branson Ultrasonic Bath fill with dimethyl-2-methylglutarate solvent from Solvay to clean them for 1 hr. Also you can use NMP solvent under the hood.
Dont use any aqueous solution to clean the Ni electrode, If use aqueous solution either hydrogen evolution or oxide layer formed in your electrode. So to clean the electrode use non-aqueous solution.
for supercapacitor, I think cleaning in ethanol is more than enough.
