Vocabulary acquisition is not my field of expertise, but I need to assign readings in that area when I teach an online content literacy course. I just feel the need for some grounding in terms of how you approach came about historically.

Thanks for answering my question. No, I am not thinking of a Q-Sort, but that would be interesting! My background is history; I got into literacy education rather circuitously. So, my question about a timeline being potentially helpful has to do with sociohistorically situating it (the discourse) in a way that raises questions about relations of power vis-a-vis Foucault's conceptual analysis. This is probably interesting to only a few of us on Research Gate; thus, I'm not intimating that it would be necessary for you to include a timeline ~ only interesting to those of us who see "power relations" everywhere.

Bianca, your latest response makes good sense to me. I'm glad we interacted. A Q-sort has me intrigued, but That would mean going in a different direction from which I'm presently headed. And honestly, I know I need to focus.
Research Gate is a wonderful space for sharing ideas. One really never knows how reaching out with a single idea can be enriching in ways not anticipated.
