Hi,
I am using HEC-RAS 5.0.7 to create Inundation Boundary, however, it seems HEC-RAS extends flood inundation boundaries up to Edge Lines (two sides of cross sections) and then shows the vertical elevation of floods in this area. It doesn't show extension and flooding of the neighbor areas due to higher water elevation in the boundary. Does anyone know how to deal with this challenge?

Thank you so much for your help. As the stream is located in an urban area, it is not easy (and in some cases feasible) to extend the cross-sections.
I was wondering if HEC-RAS (or any other software) has the capability of flood inundation mapping based on the water level in the stream and nearby terrain data OR they all only work within the defined cross-sections boundaries?
Dear Javad, the capabilities you describe are the so called 1D/2D-Modelling and is exactly one of the things for which HEC-RAS v5.x was designed for. I would actually think that there is some setup error in your model. Maybe there is something you have not defined properly. In other software with 1D/2D capabilities you have to define explicitly where does the connection between both parts is. Maybe this helps you find your way.
