I'm not sure what you mean by PTFE "paper". I am familiar with Nuclepore filter membranes, which have a very uniform pore size distribution. These are sometimes preferred over glass fiber filters due to the rather broad "pore" size distribution of the latter.

I have used this kind of paper when filtering after solvent extraction in separatory funnel and I am not wanting any of the water to go through the paper.  I use a dessicant in the paper and filter the sample through this.  It doen't allow the water to go into your sample that way.
