if we look at the progress made by researchers in the field of science and technology, there are large number of papers being published every year. Lets say some of the most popular databases like SCOPUS, IEEE xplore etc., the rate at which publications are coming out, its mind boggling. But if we look at our society, the main problems or stigmas, what was there 50 years before, they are still there.

One viewpoint, ARE THESE PUBLICATIONS MEANT ONLY FOR FUN SAKE ? JUST BECAUSE YOU NEED TO GET A Ph.D. DEGREE, so you need to do publications? OR YOU NEED TO SHOW THAT YOU ARE A BRILLIANT GUY[As if you know lot of things in science] ?

Second viewpoint, Many people are publishing papers in some paid journals without having much research work done, then they show their 'FALSE PRIDE' by the count of papers they have?

Third viewpoint, How these research publications are affecting the development of society? What is the correlation of 'publication rate' and 'DEVELOPMENT' of our society?

Fourth viewpoint, Where are we lagging while doing research that it is not able to improve the life of common man as it is supposed to do as compared to rate of publications?

Fifth viewpoint, I notice all around that people are getting CRAZY for publications, even they are indulging in wrong paths to get papers published. Where are we heading actually?

Sixth viewpoint, Many have come up with the idea of opening new journals or publishing papers through some conference as a way to make MONEY [ or easy business ]. In these conferences, papers get published with garbage things also [low quality works or no quality at all]. How we are shaping our society in the name of PUBLICATIONS?

Any comments or ideas in this regard is welcomed.

Thank you.
