i am a bit wondering, you know that precipitation is fluctuating throughout the year and perhaps most of the missing data of gauge stations' records are due to sunny days, so does it make sense to estimate rainfall values to sunny days ? (especially if there is not rainfall pattern over a time series)
I would suggest getting any satellite rainfall products for those locations and identify non-rainy days and rainy days throughout the year or study duration. It will help you to know missing measurements on rainy days and you do not need to fill the days when there was no rain on sunny days. Alternatively, as Jainet suggested you can use nearby station/s to (if exist) fill the missing data. I agree with jainet that it does not make sense to estimate or fill all of the sunny days with an assumption that there was rain. I hope it helps.

It does not make any sense to estimate rainfall values to sunny days. Missing data is not always the sunny days data it also includes rainy days. The one who fills the missing data need to be very careful while filling the missing part. A cross verification with nearby available RG stations will help in identifying rainy and sunny days to an extend.
