I am trying to add data from Excel file to SPSS 25 but I get this error message-
>Error. Command name: GET DATA
>(2064) Sheet contains no data.
>* Sheet Name: "Data_2017"
>Execution of this command stops.
EXECUTE.
>Error # 105. Command name: EXECUTE
>This command is not valid before a working file has been defined.
>Execution of this command stops.
DATASET NAME DataSet2 WINDOW=FRONT.
Can anyone help me with this?

Yes, this seems to be a rare bizarre glitch in SPSS. It took me a while before I found a solution:

I ended up inserting a new column A that I labeled Dummy and otherwise left blank; a completely empty variable. I had six different data sets failing and it worked for all of them. They all had the same contents in the first column, so I suspect it had something to do with what was in column A. Good luck!

Hey Bob Mcgrath , Thank you so much for your reply. I have tried it but didn't work. I noticed that my Excel data-set is saved as .XLSX. As you can see XLSX is in capital letters. I don't know whether that's an issue.

I doubt it, but I don't know if I've ever had an xlsx file saved that way before. It's easy enough to change the extension to lower case. Did you try saving it as an xls file? That was another option suggested in the link I sent you. If that doesn't work, I'm pretty sure the converting it to csv format would do the trick.
