I am nearing the end of my first year of applied epidemiology at a local health department, I have been exposed to a diverse range of topics but throughout graduate school and my project (zoonotics) I am still confident that I would interested in pursuing a career path in environmental and occupational epidemiology. More specifically I am driven to work on assessments that seek to understand the health effects of industrial pollution, both to those in such occupational settings and populations impacted by air and water discharge.

I have taken a course in environmental and occupational epidemiology, and have extensive applied GIS experiences concerned with ecological data and raster analysis. That being said it appears that this is niche field and I haven't had an oppurtunity for mentorship on how to best prepare myself and gain the practical skills to be qualified for such as position.

My questions are

Is it feasible to conduct work in this field at the masters level?

Aside from reading publications and attending conferences, what are good options for enhancing my technical skills in this field?

Thank you very much for your time and I would greatly appreciate any feedback.
