I have been serving my university as teacher and researcher since December 13, 2087. In addition to teaching and research, I am, currently, serving as Dean of the Faculty as an academic and administrative head. I enjoy working since the beginning. I am going to retire in February 2024 at the age of 60. The issue is that I am used to working a lot. Should I stop working after my retirement and I should continue working? I am a workaholic type of a person.
I need any good suggestion by my followers.

Retirement seems to be a strange habit. Many of the world's greatest achievers did not retire: David Attenborough, Warren Buffett & Charlie Munger, The Queen of England, countless musicians ... If you are a workaholic, retirement might damage your health. Better to stay at work, at least on a part-time basis if necessary, start your own consultancy business, and mentor the next generation.
Hello Himayatullah. Being a professor of psychology and also in gerontology for over 40 years I can support what Christopher wrote in this portal. I am only semi-retired and now just do guest lectures, write grants for funding on the what I call the "vicissitudes of aging", continue to do independent research, do public speaking for a fee-where possible, and continue to mentor the next generation of budding social scientists. I love it. I am no longer feel like I am being held captive by an academic culture which requires that I make sure my work load is balanced and sit on all sorts of committees. I pick and choice want I want to be involved in and feel that B. F. Skinner said it correctly when near the end of his life when he was reporting to his colleagues his insight into aging and what he was going through, he indicated that he only gets involved in things he wants to do and where there is a pay off (i.e., emotional satisfaction, thinking and keep a health mind and brain). Erik Erikson and his wife Joan also related their thinking when they were getting older and the important concept here is gerotranscendence which entails; A redefinition of self and relationships to others, A new understanding of fundamental existential questions, Less self-occupied and at the same time more selective in the choice of social and other activities, An increased feeling of affinity with past generations and decreased interest in superfluous social interaction, Positive solitude becomes more important, A feeling of cosmic community with the spirit of the universe and a redefinition of time, space, life and death. The key here is to be selective with what you take on when your retired. Good Luck with the next stage of your life.

My answer is "Good heavens above...NO!!"
While my own achievements have not been so nearly so illustrious as previous posters, I'm happy to continue working (on a part-time basis) for as long as I can. It's not all blue skies all the way, but it sure beats the alternatives!

May I state that research scientists like you can accumulate knowledge that can be well applied without referring to the age of retirement - Age is only a number, one can be productive and active even at the age of 110. Life is too short to give up even one day:
