In case of thermal behavior, Melting point shifted towards lower temperature with decreasing particle size of semiconductor. Please explain this mechanism?
Melting temp. represent the average energy to break the bond between atoms or molecules.I think simply, as particles get smaller, the broken bonds are more. So lower average energy will be needed to break the others.
in nanoscale, the Fourier Law is not valid. Phonon are the main heat carriers in non metalic materials. another Non-Fourier model are developed to predict the heat conduction The thermal conductivity depend on the size of materials.

We have studied the effect of particle size on thermal properties of semiconductor material. We found that melting point of nano materials slightly shifted towards lower temperature due increase in surface area of materials. Additionally endothermic peak area also increases which also enhanced the enthalpy change and specific heat capacity of the nano material compared to bulk materials.
