Afghanistan is now the only country in the world where girls are officially banned from attending secondary school and university. Since 2021, over 1.1 million girls have been locked out of classrooms, undoing decades of progress in literacy, opportunity, and hope.
Before the Taliban’s return, nearly 40% of all students were girls. Today, many continue their education through underground schools, online platforms, and community-based initiatives, risking everything to learn.
Education is not a privilege, it is a right. When girls learn, communities thrive. When they are silenced, entire nations suffer.

Also, there is a common saying, stated as follows: "Behind a successful man, there is a good woman." Psychologically, men can only see the wide horizon in front of them. In contrast, women can see the details of everyday life and are capable of facing them squarely.

I’m currently conducting research on how early marriage affects young girls’ education in rural African communities, where girl education is often viewed as a taboo. It’s heartbreaking to see how cultural beliefs and practices continue to deny girls their right to learn. Education is indeed a right, not a privilege—and when girls are educated, families and societies flourish.
