Hello everyone

I have performed EDS-SEM, also EDS-TEM for simple materials with the obvious chemical formula, however, the results were not identical to the chemical formula. For example, I have synthesized MCM-41 (mesoporous silica) with the well-known formula of SiO2. So I expected that EDS shows the molar ratio of Si:O;1:2 but EDS-SEM showed 1:1.5 and EDS-TEM showed 1:1 !!!

I attached both files here (note: Cu element was generated from the copper grid of the TEM sample holder)

I thought maybe the problem is with my sample, so I tested different materials, however, the result was the same! (EDS was not quantitatively accurate in this case)
