In the frame of the study course "Engineering Ecology" I am giving a lecture series on the topic "Ecological Planning" (in German), and the topics are: Ecological Planning Instruments, Landscape Analysis and Design of Green and Blue Infrastructure, Environmental and FFH impact assessment, environmental indicators, biotope network design, stepping stone concept, bioengineering methods in earth and river works, cost estimation, ecological construction supervision, planning of ecological compensation measures. We have also a practical part for that course: the students must design an ecosystem restoration (usually a weir demolition), including the biological mapping and risk analysis and prepare the affiliated environmental impact assessment for the designed subject.
