I'd like more advice
I would like to use the project-based learning method to develop innovative thinking in biology among 16-year-old students. I believe that my use of educational platforms and the use of digital videos and designs will help my students more understand the subject and expand their new ideas.
But from my point of view, reading is always better than watching. When I read a topic, I will imagine its shape, and that imagination will generate new innovations. But when I watch a video, my imagination will be determined by the shape I saw.
When it comes to encouraging innovation and creativity in biology students through project-based teaching, both reading-based and video-based projects can be effective. However, the approach that you choose may depend on the learning preferences of your students and the goals of the project.
Indeed, reading-based projects can be a great way to encourage active reading and critical thinking skills, which can help students develop their creativity and innovation. By reading about different biological concepts and processes, students may be able to generate new ideas and perspectives that they can apply in their projects. Additionally, reading can help students develop their ability to communicate their ideas effectively through writing, which can be an important skill for innovative thinkers.
However, video-based projects can also be effective, as they can provide a more dynamic and engaging learning experience that can help students visualize complex biological concepts and processes.
It is good to use ICT, but do not overuse it. Assign projects for your students to work on and ask them to present them in front of their classmates. Help them to work in groups and do not forget to provide some feedback when need be. Good luck.
In my opinion, you have to take into account that students have different learning styles, due to the heterogeneity of the groups, the teacher also has his own learning style and not necessarily the students must learn like the teacher and even more if they do not coincide in the learning style. So, one should always vary the strategy also taking into account the nature of the concepts being taught along with the learning styles of the students
I totally agree with Dr Wilmer Lopez. In fact, variety is the master key for solving the major learning problems. For instance, you should take into consideration the integration of three learning components in every single learning practice: 1. the input in terms of its richness and variety, 2. how to build your students' competencies, and 3. how to engage them into meaningful communicative acts.
