Hello, I tried to determine the dynamic coefficients of a 2 groove journal bearing, the program is attached, I tried to compare the results obtained by other researchers such as SOMEYA & LUND but the results show a significant difference.
I would be thankful if anyone review the program, or if there an existed one that I can use.

I come from China, Xi'an jiaotong university , we share the same subject , I read you program .also I run it ,thus I get the good static characteristics which match the lund's result but I can not get the good dynamic characteristics. particularly,for the cross damping coefficient (Cxy,Cyx),I can not get the Cxy=Cyx, so I think there must be some
errors when we caculate the parameters (A1,A2....A11). now, I can not locate this error. i think we can figure it out together.
I read your word document named information which in attachment and realize that you have got a good match with Lund's results in dynamic coefficient. is there and problem?
Hi Lou, thanks for the reply and finally I found someone who is in the same field as I am.
for the information document, it is just for the correct results , so I can compare my results with. (I get it from a researcher).
and for the Finite Difference coefficients(A1, A2, ...,A11) I check them for many several times and in each time, I get the same results. Maybe if you can check them (if there is an error I can't recognize).
Also is there any other method I should use for estimating these coefficients instead for the method I use now.
the problem of the cross-coupled damping coefficients can be correct by setting this condition:
if p(I,J) < 0
p1(I,J) = 0;
end
and the same for the second pressure, (Kindly, see the highlighted lines in page 16 in Lund paper in the attached file), but for this condition the stiffness values will be more inaccurate,
I hope you check them and we can both benefit this program.

I am so sorry for replying you so late.
As far as I know, there is a finite element method named PDE including in matlab toolbox can solve the Reynolds equation also. Before you use this method, you need to transform the Reynolds equation to the elliptical equation first. Then you can calculate the P1, P2 without calculating the finite difference coefficients A1,A2,…,A11(check attachment). you can try it if necessary.
By the way, I am working on the finite difference method. Can not get the proper results in this way make me feel bad. I am willing to share the new results with you if I have any.
