Hello guys
I am trying to combine the Morison equation with the Newmark-beta method. But I am facing a question. Hope someone can give me some suggestions. As the Morison force at time t+1 depends on the velocity and acceleration at time t+1, it can not be calculated without knowing v t+1 and a t+1.
I build an MCK equation where M, C, K are set to be constant during the calculation. I think an iteration should be used to get the result. So I followed the method presented in Langen and Sigbjørnsson (1979) which combines Newton iteration and the Newmark-beta method together to build my code.
But I find the iteration difficult to converge as I update the Morison force not only in each time step but also in each iteration. I wonder if it is a correct idea to update the external force in each iteration. If not, how to get the Morison force at t+1?
Thank you for reading.
