I am interested to know
Does the magnetic field exert any mechanical or thermal effect on semiconductor materials?
Magnetic field can effect thermal transport. And magnetostriction is a mechanical behaviour if your material is magnetostrictive.
The short answer is yes. Consider e.g. the magnetocaloric effect [1,2].
