There were many experiments done with momentum-entangled photon pairs created through SPDC. Works of Strekalov [Phys. Rev. Lett. 74, 3600 (1995)] and Hong [J. Opt. Soc. Am. B 15, 1192 (1998)] report that there is no visible Young’s interference pattern in the single counting rate in one of the arms. However, an interference pattern appears in coincidences. Is the transverse coherence of spontaneously down-converted fields really so low that we cannot see interference? This may be improved by spatial filtering or reducing the number of birth zones. Or, is it due to an existence of the entangled twin? I would be grateful for any reference dealing with this topic.
