From the theories of Heisenberg the energy used for separation process have an influence on the speed of transition of electrons in the material, however in the new technology it my be possible that it hasn't an influence..
Dear Imad, would please give more details what do you mean by energy separation of matter in solar cells.
As far i know, the incident photons will generate electron hole pairs if the photon energy is greater than the energy gap of the semicondcutor absorber material. The built in electric field associated with the built in voltage because of the contact difference of potential at the junction of the solar cell, will separate and collect the generated electron hole pairs. As the electric field increases it will sweep the electrons and holes with larger speed preventing their recombination and thereby increases the collection efficiency of the solar cells.
maybe you meant the band-gap energy (between valence and conduction band, or between HOMO and LUMO state) by what you expressed as "energy separation of matter"?
