I believe there is no problem in thinking if IT information technology changes teaching methods and tools. Another question is whether IT related to Industry 4.0 can change education and pedagogy. Technology is means is not the purpose itself. The goal of education, whether for industry 4.0 or for any area that involves high technology or not, is to develop teaching and learning processes. That is the purpose. Technology can and should collaborate as a medium. Information is not education, but education uses information. It is not because there are informational processes, technological or not, that we should think about changing education and pedagogy. Learning Styles are prone to changing, according the social transformations; that is why teachers and professors have to think in new and different teaching strategies and methods. Now this is a splendid question which, like all the best questions, defies a "yes" or "no" answer.

I can offer "an answer" which is based on my experience of schools in the UK where vast qualities of time, energy and money were spent between 1997 and 2008 on training teachers, funding infrastructure and developing educational software.

I would say that this two decades saw a rather volatile relationship between two very different technologies which align to what we might call material and adaptive technologies.

Technology 1 is the hardware, software and systems that we call "IT".

Technology 2 is far older - it is the technology of schools, teaching and learning.

Clearly, whilst "schooling" is not an "artifact" or "device" it is a system constructed around overt and covert purposes which are achieved through the systematic application of mechanisms and processes. As such it is "a technology".

The question asked suggests that we should are considering if technology 1 has significantly influenced technology 2.

I would suggest that just the opposite has occurred in England where the powerful and ingrained technology of "schooling" has profoundly influenced the nature of technology 1. Some examples might be useful.

Schools have mostly actively rejected the use of mobile telephones as "disruptive" whilst embracing mobile devices used by teachers to feed data on pupils performance and behaviour to a database to be viewed and analysed by "school managers". Whilst the school seeks to ban access to digital media by pupils, teachers are encouraged to use such devices as interactive whiteboards and Powerpoint to "teach".

We might consider if there is a general principle we could identify?

I would offer it as this:

The power and inertia of "schooling" is so deeply ingrained in society with its assumptions about purposes and practices that:

- Where digital technologies work sympathetically to the purposes and systems of schooling then they are adapted and adopted.

- Where they are seen as "disruptive" in that they challenge the nature, purposes and practices of "schooling" then they are rejected.

I would suggest that schools cannot truly adapt to make the most of the affordances of digital technologies. This would take a radical reform of the nature of schooling.

In my opinion, information technologies allow you to automate boring routine procedures and increase involvement, thanks to multimedia content, gamification and other techniques.

Broadly, the development of information technology has been diversifying the students' ways of accessing the learning resources. To a certain extent, student-centered teaching is still a big matter and the core of pedagogy. In this case, teaching method might not be changed, but the teaching tools are changed. Schools integrate technology into teaching, rather than replacing the traditional teaching methods and tools. If we understand the development of information technology changing the philosophy of teaching, that would be another case.

While yes, there are changes to teaching methods and tools, the changes are mostly superficial. Technology is used mostly for purposes of efficiency and flexibility of access, and because there are social and institutional expectations/directives to use the technology (For example, many teachers are required to learning management systems for course content, grading etc.). In fact more recent research is showing that technology per se is not radically changing effectiveness of teaching. Using technology in teaching to meet social expectations or increase efficiency is useful and oftentimes required. However we must be wary of adopting a techno-centric view of learning and fall into the trap of believing that merely using technology leads to better learning outcomes.

There is undoubtedly potential in technology to teach in ways that lead to deeper learning experiences, but to realize the potential, we must anchor the process not in technology but in learning, and in reflective practice, making evidenced-based changes to practice to meet the goal of facilitating meaningful learning. Technology is merely a tool and it's how the tool is used that matters. In saying this, I am reminded of Mishra and Koehler’s (2006) TPACK model and the necessity of understanding technology, pedagogy and content knowledge in order to integrate effectively technology for the purposes of advancing learning.

These have both caused a significant shift in focus towards a more relevant delivery of both community and school based education. Unfortunately many teaching staff are not as literate in tech as they could be. This has led to a degree of tokenism in some areas and a total misreading in others.

I work for a nonprofit organization that provides professional development in mathematics to teachers. IT has drastically changed the vehicle through which we may deliver course content. We now use a Zoom platform with some of our courses. With a virtual course, the design is quite different from a face-to-face courses. We might have the same educational goals, but we go about achieving the content much differently. There is quite a bit in the literature about synchronous and asynchronous environments, flipped classrooms, etc. IT is also having a large impact on dynamic assessment and intervention delivery.

As for what you prefer about the methods of learning .. Difficulty in collective education to talk about the methods or patterns of learning .. We say the readiness of the learner to learn and this takes us to educational psychology at the time we emphasize the role of technology in changing methods and methods

IT is surely changing teaching tools and methods and slowly IT will change human being's thinking mode.

There are other impacts in regards to education, for example, I teach students who are from 15-18 years of age and when I provide written comment on their assignments or write them notes manually, they no longer understand running writing. I am not that old, so now, with type fonts and physical printing, it seems running writing is dying out. Is that evolution?

In regards to the class delivery, there are much more interactive and "live" examples that IT has enabled and we use Zoom, Youtube and other software as well as traditional didactic lessons and videoed sessions as well. So I would say IT has definitely enabled flexibility and expanded ways of learning.

Also, just like to point out that on-line courses do not necessarily work on their own as a degree of discipline is required (huge drop out rate) and when support is needed it is not there - so no catering to a range of learning styles.

This book chapter on Industry 4.0 gives some insight into the workforce skills that are needed such as ability to cope with new IT processes can shed some light on how teachers would also have to adopt to newer technologies in their delivery.

Yes, the development of IT information technology had significantly changed teaching methods and tools from earlier conventional practices. Teaching has become more interactive and more interesting both for teachers and students. Learning has become more a matter of joy and interest with more recent and even rapidly changing teaching methods as well as tools.

Surely, development of IT information and technology has improved the teaching methodology, even in primary classes also we are using nowadays different improvised technology for teaching. Of course it does. We are teaching students who are even more advanced than the teachers in terms of technology. Traditional teaching makes them bored and less interested in the lessons. Using IT-based materials increase their passion for learning and they can easily relate to it.
