Does the contaminated THP-1 cells secrete cytokines without stimulation?

I had an issue related to THP-1 cells which are contaminated with bacteria and when we test cytokines secretion they don't secrete any cytokine. Is that because of contamination of other factors may affect the detection or the THP-1 cells don't secrete cytokines in normal conditions?

The bacteria have likely rendered your THP-1s refractory to stimulation and you need to thaw a new vial of cells. Importantly, make sure that your cultures are not contaminated with Mycoplasma.
