Does the characteristics of gas and liquid in polyphasic mixture have an effect on the gas or liquid holdup?

The gas holdup is a ratio Qg / (Qg + QL) where Qg and QL are the volume flowrates of gas and liquid respectively. Does the characteristics (physical and chemical) have an effect on the gas holdup?

Holdup Is due basically when chemical activity is over passed by solubility and both aspects are directly related with mixtures and phase properties
